All Presidents have had disdain for the press. Another book with a dumb item in order to sell copies.

6. I hate him too. But the president has given the press far fewer opportunities
to talk to him than even GWBush did.

15. Not exactly accurate at all
While Pres. Obama has fallen behind in holding press conferences, he's way ahead in giving press interviews:

But the figures for arranged interviews go the other way: in his first year Obama gave 161 interviews, compared to 50 for Bush and 53 for Clinton.

3. Don't forget "Asshole" for Adam Clymer. (Might that not be construed as "disdain"?)

4. He is just one in the long list of journalist who feel the need to publish quick get rich books.
One of the worst offenders is Billo Oreilly. He almost begged the New York Times to put him on the best seller list. If I was a President I would have disdain for them too. Maybe they need to learn how to report the news instead of creating the news. Their latest victory is create a picture of Obama as the President who responds to the oil spill like Bush did to Katrina. Now every body has jumped on the MSM's bandwagon. Feed the people anything. Give us Barabbas.

9. Bush never had any media arms of the left wing asking him questions either
Edited on Mon May-24-10 08:05 AM by NNN0LHI
Bush had Fox and Talon news and the NYT who all adored him. Bush never had a single tough question asked of him. Just a steady diet of softballs.

Little different situation isn't it?

10. Yes, but he promised an "open" White House. Clinton's big mistake was in letting the networks
discourage him from having his press conferences in prime time. As a result, a huge percentage of people are still not aware that Bill Clinton is a really smart guy.

The prez can only benefit from engaging the press more.

8. Another Beltway Prima Donna
Ever since the advent of television...especially 24/7 cable news, the "media" (specifically the corporate media) has become personality driven. Reporters and now talking heads feel they hold some sort of special place or privilidge cause they can run and spew into a camera or microphone. They're the big shots at the drinkie-drinkie parties whose egos are fed further by politicians, lobbyists and others who play them to get out their taking points. Thus when a Chuckles Toadie gets his knickers in a snit, he puts out tripe like this since he's not treated like a pampered poodle or sees dollar signs, books sales and more drinkie-drinkie parties by stirring up the shit.

Today's corporate media has turned into a circle jerk...the same usual suspects talking to other usual suspects...all speculating and projecting purely based on their position. They're not elected, they're chosen by other media elites...yet these people feel they're either above or better than the people they cover.

the press.

Apart from a few here and there, "the press" are a pack of puppets.
