just sick...Elementary students given unborn fetus dolls at school
Norfolk principal put on leave over fetus dolls for students

A school employee passed out plastic human fetus dolls to students at Oakwood Elementary in Norfolk. The "pro-life" message reads, "Some people think my life began at birth; but my life's journey began long before I was born ..." (Ryan Bellamy | WVEC)

Oakwood Elementary's principal was placed on administrative leave Friday as school officials investigated why life like, 4-inch-long plastic fetus dolls were given to dozens of third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students.

On Thursday, the school staffer thought to be responsible for handing out the dolls was placed on leave.

Oakwood took another hit this week when the American Civil Liberties Union of Virginia blasted its principal for inviting students and teachers to participate in prayer and Bible study. The organization said such acts are coercive and violate the Constitution.

The group asked Superintendent Stephen Jones in a letter sent Friday to immediately instruct Oakwood Principal Sheila Tillett Holas on the constitutional rights of teachers and students, and to stop religious overtures to them, as well as all organized religious activity on school grounds.

1. Disgusting. Were the 'dolls' an inch long? That would be the real length of a 9 week old fetus.

2. If they made them an inch long, they wouldn't be safe for children to play with.

3. I helped a mother deliver a five month old
(No the baby did not survive, though was delivered alive to the NICU)... and it was smaller than that.

5. Hey I have one of those! I stole it from the pro-life booth at the county fair a few years ago
Edited on Mon May-24-10 02:35 PM by Heddi
the booth workers were "counceling" a girl that looked about 16...I'm sure reminding her of her godly place as a brood mare with no education or future.

Anyway, they had a basket of these in the corner. So I stole one.

My cat loves to play with it, chew on its head.

At one point it hung from the rear-view mirror of the car via a noose.

Now it sits on top of a statue of the Eiffel Tower in the sunroom.

I had fun taking pictures with it:

10. They are anti-choice, anti-woman
My money says they are just fine with the death penalty.

How DO they reconcile that?

11. Next they should
pass out the forensic pictures of childrn killed by their parents and step-parents whom were not prepared to nurture children. The picture of the little girl with a hair brush smashed into her skull still stands out in my mind after 25 years.

Oh, well the Pope wants us to keep cranking out orphans to beat and molest, while they do the best job possible to induce guilt for any sexual impulses the rest of us may possess.

14. The religiously insane ....
... are just that: religiously insane.

They bring their insanity to the work place regardless of where they work ... be they a tinker , a tailor , a teacher or principal. It is, admittedly, less important if your auto mechanic, lawyer, architect, manicurist are religiously insane ... one can choose to use someone else's services or ignore them and continue to utilize their services. children are a captive(and very impressionable) audience.

What the hell is it with Virginia's public schools. My experience with them is that they do an overall excellent job (probably the best school districts I've ever sent my children to were in Virginia) but, there seems to be a recurring and gross overstepping by one or two religiously insane teachers. A biology teacher once informed my then middle schooler, that all he needed to know (r/t evolution) was in the bible. Oddly, the guy would have been very good if he could only keep a lid on his religious insanity.
