On MSNBC - Get the Tankers Here Now!!! To load up the oil. |
|
They just said this is how they cleaned up a spill in Saudi Arabia, the tankers come in and keep skimming and trading it on the market. They can clean up 85%...and this is what they should be doing. Until they can stop the leak and that may be never...they just said.
Obama needs to stop sounding like Ghandi....people sick of it!! Get the fucking tankers here NOW Obaam!

1. I do not understand why they haven't done this. |
|
In addition to whatever else they're trying. The effort feels half-assed on its best day. And BP hasn't had a best day.

20. Mike Papantonio on Ed Schultz Air America says BP has the tankers |
|
24 supertankers in the ME filled with oil are parked waiting for the price of oil to go up before they dump the stuff on the Euro market. They make more money the longer they hold the oil, the longer the leak continues than they do if they empty the supertankers and respond to the disaster. This is why BP hasn't sent the tankers to recover the oil.

2. What tankers are these |
|
and where would they come from? I don't suppose you mean the big ass supertankers that don't have any form of skimming or suction capability so they must be some special tankers.

8. So where are these tankers |
|
I can't find an article less than 19 years old? I wonder if they even exist anymore.
As it is there are scores of skimmers currently operating in the gulf. They aren't tankers, they are specialized skimming operations.

4. Yes, special - they can suck up the oil and process it |
|
The Saudis used them when they had a major spill.

but it seems to me...they should have left the oil on top for awhile, get fleets of tankers skimming and taking it away. Only use any dispersants AFTER all efforts to skim have been exhausted. Seems ass backwards.

If they left the OIL on the surface they could skim it...
BUT
BP went with the dispersant route to HIDE the oil. The dispersant causes the OIL to basically "dissolve" into the ocean. Thus... less OIL will hit the shoreline and LESS cameras will show pictures of oil on the beach.
It's a PR scam.

I never was too confident with the party line on the dispersant. Is the Corexit product one of these? Which one: http://www.valdezlink.com/evos/others.htm

because BP bastards used fucking toxic chemicals to melt and disperse the oil into the ecosystem so that it CAN'T be recovered...
Understand? BP used the dispersant BECAUSE they want the oil HIDDEN. They want to keep the goop off the beaches for PR purposes. Toxic soup in the gulf... God help the critters there.

you would skim first, disperse later.
I buy the "hide the evidence" theory...it's entirely in character for that corporate person.

18. This sounds like it ought to work. Tanker oil vacuum. |
|
I don't see why they can't schlurp it in, separate the oil from the water and spit the water back out. I bet it can be done but no-one ever bothered to make a separator to do just that.

If any of the oil companies own them, then they should bring them in. But I am confused why would we have oil tankers.

This is what that Pozzi guy who cleaned up the huge Saudi spill said-tankers. He has tried to contact BP several time to offer help and has been given a royal run around. His assessment is it comes down to cash. BP could have plenty of tankers there but they might be expected to compensate the owners of the tankers. Isn't being cheap bastards who cut corners to save a buck what got them in this mess to begin with? http://www.aolnews.com/nation/article/could-cleanup-fix-for-gulf-oil-spill-lie-in-secret-saudi-disaster/19476863
