Drove right on past a BP gas station today; figured it was the least I could do
I was literally running on fumes. I've tried not to buy BP gas for several years now but was in kind of a crunch today with less than a gallon in my tank. But when I realized that gas station just down the street that used to be another brand was now a BP station, I just drove on by.

How about you? Where are you buying your gas?

3. My mother sold me the car I use now.
Edited on Tue May-25-10 07:18 PM by Jamastiene
She swore it would ONLY run on BP gas. She said it would sputter and cause all sorts of problems to not use BP gas.

An aside: She also told me to vote for her Republican neighbor for sheriff in the primaries this year, which tells me she really did switch her party status. :puke: I did not (I'm still Democrat) and would not vote for a Republican if someone had a gun to my head. My mother and her lame brained ideas. :eyes:

Still, I've since learned that the car will, in fact, run on non-BP gas. It simply needed a fuel injector/carburetor and still does periodically now. All old 1989 cars (that use fuel injection) could use a good fuel injector cleaning every now and then. My mother and her lame brained ideas. :eyes:

I am buying my gas at a different station (nonBP) now too, although, I wonder if this problem isn't with all oil and gas companies. To say that I am extremely disgusted by BP's total disregard for entire ecosystems up to and including the people of the Gulf is an understatement.

14. I've always been prone to Sunoco because it worked well in my
high performance 4 cyl engines. It didn't hurt that it was usually cheaper than the other major brands. The off-brands could easily be the same as major brands but I usually had more problems with them. I expect it was probably a problem with contamination in the storage or delivery systems. The truth of the story is that all gasoline is the same out of the refinery supporting the area. The differences are undetectable unless he supplier or station hasn't assured they sell what was delivered.

My best performance was when I bought 105 Octane Avgas at the local airport. Very much illegal and at the time very much cheaper. Definitely worth the risk at the time.

The reality is that the advertised octane rating and the compression of your engine are the deciding factors. Most GP engines are built to run on 87 octane unless they are high performance/ high compression they can't benefit from higher octane. Buying anything better is a waste of money. Check the octane rating on most budget stations and the economy grade is probably 84 octane or less. That's the stuff you can't afford to save a few cents on. Stick to the lowest octane from the most consistent station you find that gives smooth performance and you'll be fine.

(Well, I admit that I occasionally buy the stuff but not very often)

12. You shoulda thrown a rock through their window.
Fuck BP. They deserve every bit of damage to their gas stations that can be perpetrated by an angry populace.
People should sail rocks through their windows and slice off the gas pump nozzle hoses and any other damage that can be done to deny them of a single penny of profit. Another good idea would be to go inside a BP station and dump a few cans of oil on their floors in fdornt of the employees for them to clean up.

Fuck those punk ass bitches.

13. I have been watching the BP station on my way to work. I think they
are having less customers since the spill. Not even a line for their car wash.
