"Crystal Bowersox may help Toledo's economy if she wins [American Idol] tonight." |
|
Someone on my twitter feed said this.
Anyone know of any evidence that the hometown of an American Idol winner sees economic improvement? This sounds like one of those things people just enjoy believing.

1. Probably depends upon the size of the town. She'd be in a position to generate |
|
a lot of interest--for a while--in the place where she grew up.
I'm rooting for her. I think she has better stage presence and more personality than Lee. But I wouldn't be surprised to see them record that duet or to schedule a joint tour. She mentioned she had a 'musical crush' on Lee from the time they auditioned together.

2. I think her voice is tremendous. Her style reminds me of Rita Coolidge/ |
|
Janis Joplin/Carole King and seventies folk. She sings beautifully.
I really think there's no contest between the two as far as vocal ability, but that Lee kid is nice, good looking, good voice, marketable.

3. I graduated high school in 1969. I have a classmate who is a professional musician |
|
and he's rooting for Mama Sox, too. She's definitely a throwback to the seventies. Lee? Isn't he just another from the mold of some of the winners from the past couple of years? It seems like he'd be eaten alive in the music biz.

8. He kind of reminds me of the winner from last year. Personable, the girls like him |
|
okay voice. He's definitely not a unique talent.

& I'm SICK of hearing about her! Don't get me wrong - she's good. But it's been all Chrystal Bowelsox all the time on local TV.
And here's a little secret: SHE ISN'T FROM TOLEDO! She's from a little town about 30 miles from here.

6. Remember these are the same type of folks that think Bush Jr. is from Texas |
|
And many of them still can't find Canada on the map.
