16. Come again?
"A bunch of guys watching a demonstration" is not the same as "peer review."

When the process is published in a peer-reviewed journal with enough explanation and detail for me to replicate the results, I will be interested. Until then, it's crackpottery.

Stop thinking.

the power companies didn't own the sun, and couldn't lease it.

I don't know anything about the machine, so I can't pass judgement. I guess people are trying to use the magnetic fields as a power source, but I have no idea how it would work.

What's amazing is your appalling lack of critical thinking skills.

12. The perptual motion scam is very old (first known example is from 1600s).
Edited on Wed May-26-10 01:50 PM by Statistical
The method changes but the scam (and violation of laws of conservation of energy) remain the same.

Here is a FREE energy from water.

See the water falls onto water wheel on left hand side, that is connected to the water screw in the middle which carries water back to the tank at the top. Endless power from water flowing between top and bottom tanks. Circa 1612.

Show me a machine that outputs ONE net watt of power in an independent lab - continuously. No tricks, no gimmicks, no distractions like sparks or whirling lights.

Metered power in, metered power OUT.

Otherwise, it's just smoke and mirrors and TALK.

32. I'm not going to dismiss this outright like most folks here, but...
peer review is essential to verify this guy's findings.

What he's suggesting isn't really a perpetual motion device, but a device that somehow taps into the Earth's preexisting magnetic field to generate electricity. Tesla was working on some similar experiments during the later half of his career, but no one really knows if he had any results worth noting.

What was that group of folks that the inventor was demonstrating for? Are they actual engineers or scientists, or just some random dudes who are easily impressed? Have his results been published? Have any known scientists analysed his work? Those are the real questions this brings up. Until they are answered, this is just a youtube video of an unknown guy.

41. The creation of energy 'out of nothing'
Apparently most who respond here have a complete and thorough understanding of the electromagnetic force

I knew this post would be ridiculed and to a certain degree that is understandable since there is, indeed, no such thing as free energy.
The First Law of Thermodynamics prohibits the creation of energy out of nothing.
The research here, however, is not aimed at creating energy out of nothing, its goals is to harness energy that is already available but not yet fully understood (or the physics involved)

47. "energy that is already available"
In what sense, Charlie? What 'energy' are you talking about?

There's a 'peswiki' entry for this (note that his name is spelled 'Yildiz'), that points to a European patent appliccation - unfortunately in German, but it do have a button for a machine translation. I can't see anything there saying the inventor doesn't understand the physics; it seems to just say the magnetic fields keep the machine rotating, he claims forever. And since there's a (light) load on it, that does mean he's claiming energy produced out of nothing.
