Okay, I know we just HAD a DU Fundraiser. But how can we let an opportunity like this go by?

Here's the article:

"Republicans' New Website not exactly what they hoped it would be"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/25/AR2010052504396.html

Here's the actual website:

http://www.americaspeakingout.com/

To post on the website, and "give the GOP ideas" about policy and platform, one need only supply an email address. Any email address.

And no, I am NOT suggesting DUers troll the site. The site is already so troll-infested that it is one long whooping, guffawing, breathtaking bellylaugh.

What I AM suggesting is a pool:

How long before the GOP closes it down or "updates the design" to introduce moderation or other qualification for posting?

Enter your best guess as to Date, Hour, and Minute, in GMT, and add a quote of the post that you most think illustrates why it will close then. (Example, my first entry would be Friday, May 28, 03:15 GMT. >>From the "Family Values" category: "Require all Muslims in the U.S. to wear ankle bracelet transponders so we know where the terrorists are at all times." << )

One dollar per entry, enter as many times as you want.

When the site closes down or is "updated," the one with the closest entry gets exactly 10% of the kitty. The rest goes to DU.

In the mean time, we get a laugh a minute as people keep updating the pool thread with the strangitude.

Whaddaya think, all?

Skinner?

EarlG?

Elad?

Is there any way we can make this work to DU's benefit?

interestedly,
Bright

5. Here is a good one:
The Republican Party should propose a "Family Re-education Act" that would require all non-Christians to learn how to be good parents. If you don't attend the class, your children will be taken away and fostered by a strong Christian conservative family.

7. I just hope you're right about these things being written by trolls!

"If Mexicans can work for $2 an hour, so can we."

"Make all prisoners ride exercise bikes connected to generators for 2 hours every day."

"I don't know why we're worrying so much about the animals in the Gulf. Nature fixes itself...We need that oil. DRILL BABY DRILL!"

"Nuke countries that aren't America, strip them of their natural resources and turn their smoldering husks into parking lots and strip malls."

"There are too many states these days, please eliminate three."

"Everyone here should be required to speak American."

"A woman should have the right to abort her baby up till the age of two years old."

I haven't had this kind of fun since we punked that Chevy Tahoe video commercial contest!

8. Very funny posts
I think we should set up an immediate Senate investigation to prove that the rumors about Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck having G^ay S^ex are not true. And Glenn Beck did NOT ra^pe and mur^der a young girl in 1990, and I am sure he will deny that soon on his show.

A thread was started with this idea

Ban science. It stimulates people to think hard about the world they live in and adopt a critical attitude. Thinking isn't good for national coherence and it spoils people who might have been good menial laborers otherwise. Science is bad for the economy.

and its first response was this

We should pass a law that makes it Illegal to use public money to setup a website that is not good for anything except gathering internet trolls.

10. It's Conservapedia all over again
Stop "teaching" our children the atheist doctrine of heliocentrism. It contradicts the Bible.
Heliocentrism is an evil scourge that should be obliterated from decent, polite society.
"Heliocentrism is an evil scourge that should be obliterated from decent, polite society." I wouldn't go that far. But it doesn't belong in a *science* class, because it's not science.

11. Under "Open Mic" a Brilliant Solution to the Hole in the Gulf!!11!!!
The oil spill in the gulf has been reported as being a mile deep.

I can't believe that a submarine couldn't have been rigged with an apparatus that could have stopped the oil spill.

Its easy, insert an inflatable plug, or inject CO2 into the pipe.

Duh, it doesn't take rocket science to figure that one out.

No, it was more important to the oil companies to jkeep the flow going, and try to pump it up.

Duh, indeed!

:P

I'm gonna sign up and post my thoughts on Kudzu.

It's goin' places!

:patriot:
