5. right... it would be nice to know what we're looking at though...
every other time I tuned in, I've just seen the pipe with oil coming out. Now I see a bunch of pipes, clamps, wires... no idea what it is... I guess I could turn on the TV but I hate that thing.

20. Do! If you get CNN watch it because every so often Sanchez goes to each
camera and explains the view.

2. CNN (TV) has eight cameras, so maybe your feed switched vantage points.
The expert on CNN says it will be a couple of days before we even begin to see a lessening of the flow.

And yes, the operation IS underway.

9. i'm watching the video stream at cnn.com. i guess someone is
deciding which camera goes into that stream. I was hoping to tune in and see an empty pipe with nothing coming out of it :)

18. Wouldn't that be nice? It'll be a couple of days at least, though. The expert
was explaining how much mud would have to be put into the pipe before they could cement the top - pretty time consuming.

Here's another feed that may give you a different view. Before CNN started covering this, I was flipping between links.

it looks like the regular CNN station (not headline news) has all the feeds and they're going back and forth through them all. thanks!

6. supposedly sometime after 2pm Eastern they began the procedure
Edited on Wed May-26-10 02:52 PM by garybeck
At 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET), the oil giant began pumping 50,000 pounds of thick, viscous fluid twice the density of water into the site of the leak to stop the oil flow, it said. If all goes according to plan, the well then could be sealed shut with cement. (cnn)

10. They are showing the valves on the BOP.. and yes there is no oil gushing visible at the moment.
at least in this view.. I hope that means something is working.

12. Yeah, earlier, after they switched to this on the live feed, I saw a robotic arm working on somethin...
But no more 'oil cam' since they began the top kill procedure. I don't know why, but they're not showing the same video feeds anymore. We now get pics of the ROV monitoring the damaged riser.

then we could tell for sure if something is working or not.

24. In other words, summing this up for all you posters' efforts, we can't
see or make sense of anything we are viewing because we are not being told anything about what we are seeing, and we just can't be treated like adult viewers by the CNN and other media.

Geeze, two hours ago someone on MSNBC was talking about Betty White coming on their network tomorrow. As if we should care!

26. actually CNN on TV is giving it decent coverage
they are looking at all the different feeds and discussing and explaining them.

the online single-feed version is basically as you describe.

31. check out the CNN alternate feed atm - what's up with the multiple flows we see
Edited on Wed May-26-10 03:46 PM by BelgianMadCow
is this of the leaks we haven't seen before (since they kept ROV on the damaged riser, not the other leaks)

on edit: http://us.cnn.com/ , click "alternate" on the left

28. I can see a different color coming out of the pipe
I wonder if this is the "mud" ?

there is clearly some of the darker oil and now there is a lighter color fluid coming out

30. Dylan Ratigan just interviewed a couple of industry people
(not connected to BP) and they seem to think there must be another, larger leak somewhere. They didn't seem to think the current size of the spill could be created by what they're observing on the feed. Frightening.
