For those like me who don't think they're doing anything about the spill:
This from The Oil Drum:

"REALLY!!!

Good job everybody who has been sweating in the 'war room'. Either Forbes or WSJ reported that there are almost 500 people working 12 hr. shifts...70ish companies. All the major deepwater operators included - and we already know that the service co's are all represented.

It's too bad that that kind of stuff doesn't get more widely publicized....might give everybody out there an idea of how tough a nut this really is, and how much is actually being done on it.

OTOH the PR guys might just be afraid of scaring people....or it's not exciting enough for MSM."

All those pros are gathered now... wow... I'm relieved. :sarcasm:

3. It might be a little comforting if the msm at least gave it a mention.
But the 'war room' and 'behind the scene' meetings are pretty dull.

I suppose it's better for ratings to keep us on the edge of our seats.

7. Well my rec got it to +1...
...and I would *love* to hear more about what went on in the war room!

I would not find it in the least bit boring.

Hoping with all my heart that the top kill works. Those who are working on this deserve every bit of our admiration and support.

9. No More Off Shore Drilling.
Won't solve the current crisis, but it will prevent the oily bastards from doing this to US again.

10. I actually think Obama hasn't said more because it would just freak everybody out more.
He generally wants to treat the American people like they are grown ups but, frankly, it certainly seems like a lot of people can't take that right now. They just want Daddy to say everything will be OK and he'll fix it right away OR they create a huge, evil conspiracy where there is a good solution that isn't being used for nefarious reasons. Gawd, I so hope this top kill works. ugghhhhh.

11. That's a lousy explanation. He needs to tell us.
Carville is right. Obama seems utterly uninvolved.

12. We will hear lots from him tomorrow. Carville is Carville. I'd love to hear the conversations
between him and Rahm right now.
