Man who uncovered Israel's 1975 apartheid nuke offer talks to RT News
From: RussiaToday | May 24, 2010

Documents uncovered by an American academic reportedly contain the first official evidence that Israel has nuclear weapons. Britains Guardian newspaper published the declassified papers showing that back in the seventies Tel Aviv offered to sell atomic warheads to the apartheid regime in South Africa. The man who revealed the documents, Sasha Polakow-Suransky, told RT he'll challenge anyone in the Israeli administration who refutes his findings.

1. Excellent Guardian (UK) Article confirms this: It is a sad uncomfortable story
It appears that Israel did in fact work with the Apartheid regime to supply them with nukes or technology for nukes while this racist regime provided Israel with yellow cake uranium for their nukes.

At least according to this Guardian article (and what about the diamonds mined with African slaves and ...oh well - lotsa shady, awful things I do not want to know about anymore. Life is just too sad.

5. Fact is that Israel is just like the US in that fascists at the top do what no citizen would do.
I can say with some degree of certainty that Israelis will find this story very disturbing.

This is not a story that has been well hidden but it has not been well documented before this and the author seems quite credible.

Peres is ashamed of it. Netanyahu TODAY said it is time for peace talks directly with the Palestinians. Perhaps this story made a difference because world opinion will NOT be good regarding this story.

Deals with Nazis by Israeli leaders is a discussion taboo.

But it is in the best interests of peace that it be discussed.

I am glad this story is getting some airing. I have known about it for years (I am a researcher of the Shoah and global fascism) and this nuclear alliance always perplexed me as the Apartheid regime was basically a Nazi regime with different logos (White power without the Swastikas) But in South Africa a lot of the "Whites" in the diamond and economic sector were Jewish and British (The De Beers diamond interests, for example). It was a very troubling historical fact to me.

9. For the record, I would like to say the following:
Many blame or accuse Israel of crimes which are indeed crimes of state which are inexcusable. But these are acts by politicians and others with power which are done at the behest of those who weild power: namely the powers that be in the United States, on Wall Street, in the corridors of power here. When it comes to crimes against humanity the United States does many similar and as horrific things on a much larger scale globally and finances, with our approval, the things that are done by Israel who is our client state: we sell them the weapons and technology and give them huge subsidies and loans to do our bidding. So being outraged at Israel without acknowledging our own crimes and the extent of our involvement in what happens there is hypocritical. Israel could not do any of it without our support and acquiescence. And as we do many many of the same operations and deals globally (and you KNOW the Bushes, Rockefellers, Oil companies, banks, etc all had their greedy mitts all over the cash flow in the Apartheid era, we cannot be outraged solely at Israel for these things.

WE are to blame for them. MORE than Israel imho. Israel is our surrogate in such things.

3. Yes. And that must be where Bush got his yellowcake lie.
They knew it was true -- of Israel.

4. Guardian: Israel and Apartheid: "A Marriage of Convenience" (chilling, frankly)
Edited on Thu May-27-10 09:52 PM by Liberation Angel
Remember that this was the era of Bush I (son of Prescott Bush, a former Nazi financier) as head of the CIA and with Kissinger running covert ops against liberation movements in South Africa and southern Africa (Angola, Namibia, Rhodesia, etc).

Here is from a link in the linked article in my previous post:

(A)s is shown by Sasha Polakow-Suransky's book, The Unspoken Alliance, that relationship went beyond mere convenience.

For years after its birth, Israel was publicly critical of apartheid and sought to build alliances with the newly independent African states through the 1960s.

But after the 1973 Yom Kippur war, African governments increasingly came to look on the Jewish state as another colonialist power. The government in Jerusalem cast around for new allies and found one in Pretoria. For a start, South Africa was already providing the yellowcake essential for building a nuclear weapon.

By 1976, the relationship had changed so profoundly that South Africa's prime minister, John Vorster, could not only make a visit to Jerusalem but accompany Israel's two most important leaders, Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, to the city's Holocaust memorial to mourn the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis.

Neither Israeli appears to have been disturbed by the fact that Vorster had been an open supporter of Hitler, a member of South Africa's fascist and violently antisemitic Ossewabrandwag and that he was interned during the war as a Nazi sympathiser. Rabin hailed Vorster as a force for freedom and at a banquet toasted "the ideals shared by Israel and South Africa: the hopes for justice and peaceful coexistence".

I'm pretty sure this is a thread/story which has global importance.

You can bet Haaretz will be covering it.

10. not much commentary here. Why? Not newsworthy or too hot a subject
are people stunned?

These are the kinds of issues that NEED discussion if there is ever going to be peace and reconciliation.
