3. Almost 20 years late, IMO.
They should have done it right under Clinton, but he was too weakened.

26. "so Obama can finish more of Bill's goals"
That reads very odd to me - especially since Obama is repealing a law Bill signed.

30. It was a compromise at the time - but it should be all of our goals regardless
Edited on Thu May-27-10 10:35 PM by FreeState
We need to deal with the current situation and stop dwelling on the past - we cant change it all we can do is change today.

11. The Bush approach to bipartisanship
Get Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman to vote your way, but no other Democrats and then call it bipartisan.

Too bad it came so late and so many fine military people have had to leave the service. Glad we are seeing a return to reasonable policy again.

22. I have a debt of gratitude for those who pushed the Government hard to get this done!
The people who heckled, who marched, handcuffed themselves to the fence in front of the White House are true heroes.

Those who lost their career and never said a word and those who spoke out, should be thanked.

There are still steps to be taken, but this is a true victory. Thank you Nancy Pelosi and Congress. By December Obama should be able to put an end to DADT.

32. This is GREAT news.
But I wonder if this will be problematic:

The legislation includes a provision ensuring that no change would take effect until the Pentagon completes a study about its impact on troops, due to Congress Dec. 1. It also requires that the study determine that a policy change would not affect the military's ability to fight wars or recruit soldiers.

I wonder where the flappy-handed crowd that can't do anything except bleat "off the table! off the table! she said off the table!" is, now?

Not only is DADT a bigoted law, but it also allows for blackmail and decreases morale in the military.

gay and lesbian service members will get kicked out.
