Maybe some journalists need to start getting arrested
I have been reading about BP/Coast guard blocking the media from certain areas and it seems to me that if a high profile journalist would have the cojones to call their bluff, it would draw a lot of attention. The willfully uninformed factions of America usually begin to pay attention when a good drama takes place.....Katie Couric in the clink ought to do it.

5. Maybe they need to stop blocking the media.
Maybe those interfering with a free press need to start getting arrested.

6. I seem to remember we had this revolutionary war ...
with England and we eventually ended up with a Constitution that had ten amendments called the "Bill of Rights". The First Amendment reads ...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Now we have this British global energy company (the fourth largest company in the world) who believes that they have the right to control the American press. Strangely, the American press appears to lack the guts to stand up to a big multinational corporation. Even stranger is that our government (the government of the most powerful nation in the world) also looks afraid of standing up to this oil giant and fighting to insure our Gulf environment has some chance to survive BP's incompetence.

It makes you wonder who actually runs the world.

7. The US hasn't had journalists in decades
Most of what are called "journalists" are actually stenographers.
