We all know crimes were committed. We demand arrests be made. |
|
A tagger getting caught painting graffiti will get arrested and charged with a crime. Multiple violations will land them a stay in county jail. How many times has BP violated the law?
Also, if someone gets killed as a result of somebody committing a crime. Charges of manslaughter among other charges will be leveled against those responsible. Just in the Deep Water Horizon catastrophe eleven folks were killed. That's at least eleven counts of manslaughter right there.
So President Obama are you going to instruct the Justice Department to dispense justice? Or are you going to play the good little corporate puppet and let these criminals, these terrorists off the hook and further illustrate to us that there's two different sets of laws. One for us wage slaves and another one for the corporate lords?

1. In most states, if a person commits a felony |
|
and someone else dies as a result, it is murder. It's called the felony-murder rule. Of course, the key word here is "person". Corporations can get away with anything, including, it seems, murder.

2. Exactly. And here in California we have a three strikes law. |
|
Three strikes on a lot of different crimes will land you a life sentence. BP has been found guilty how many times resulting in death and destruction?
So President Obama where's the justice?

3. Why do Republicans defend these habitual criminals..... |

... and seek to limit their liability to victims?

11. Because Republicans are categorically opposed to anything |
|
that might benefit mankind in general or that might take something away from the "chosen few".

4. I don't know. How many times has BP violated the law? |
|
I have seen far more posts saying "BP has broken the law" than saying "BP has broken this specific law", to be honest.

6. I don't know the specific number, but CNN |
|
Anderson Cooper and Rick Sanchez showed some examples and gave some statistics. Why you're not defending BP are you?

12. I'm attacking some of their attackers, which has some superficialy similarities. |

I think that there are many excellent reasons to criticise BP, but that a lot of the criticism I see being actually being made on DU is fairly poorly thought through, and relies upon the fact that everyone reading it will refrain from questioning it for fear of being accused of defending BP.
But, of course, just because you have a witch hunt going on doesn't mean some people aren't actually practicing witchcraft.

8. Take Hayward into custody, indict him for 11 counts of murder |
|
then sort out the details.
The admin made a couple of egregious errors early in the first term. The following should have been accomplished
1. Pardon Don Siegleman 2. Apprehend Cheney and hand him over to the Iraqis 3. Apprehend Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Brenner and give them to the World Court 4. Apprehend Rove and charge him with treason 5. Fire everyone in the DoJ who was appointed by a Repuke 6. Announce that no more criminal conduct would be tolerated in the executive branch

13. Yep, the three CEOs of those companies should be arrested on |
|
the charges they are guilty of; held without bail until there is a trial, and then sentenced to prison for a suitable length of time, like forever. They don't need to be around to call the shots. The Board of Directors of those companies can move up others into the position of being in charge or acting CEOs while they are trying to fix their predecessors criminal negligence and involuntary manslaughter offenses.
