What would your honest reaction be to Obama donning a wetsuit and snorkeling gear |
|
and diving into the Gulf?
Gov Rendell said, "If Bill Clinton was president, he'd have been in a wetsuit, you know, trying to get down to see the spill."

2. His head would implode from the pressure. |
|
If he tried to go down that deep wearing only snorkeling gear. Or, more likely, he'd drown before he got close.

4. Since the leak is a mile down |
|
And snorkeling is a surface activity, I'd think he was an idiot.

5. I doubt Obama is hazmat dive certified. |
|
Also you can't dive into toxic oily shit with just a snorkel.
Even people like me with SCUBA certification can't dive in those conditions.

7. I thought about it when I heard that line. |
|
If he went on the dive with Philippe Cousteau and Sam Champion to see the water under the surface, people would be really impressed. That said, I don't think he should do something like that unless he's already been trained as a diver.

14. Actually, I'd love to see him on TV with a baggie of the goo, put his hands in it and... |
|
...feel the consistency- then try to get it off his hands.
I'd love to see the President of the United States just showing the nation what a lot of residents of Louisiana sadly know by now. Uh, who was it...James Carville's wife, the conservative, Matlin (?) she actually got up on a speaker's podium and suggested that people do that. That they actually touch this crap and know what it is.
I think that is an amazing idea.
"Imagine if you were a sea-bird", the President said, looking up from his hands and to the camera. "Imagine if you had this all over you."

16. when a crises stretches out without resolution |
|
then they'll go after the president no matter how nonsensical it is. Never mind the fact that the WH press corps have some of the highest carbon footprints in the country, they have time to fill and as the news remains poor they just dump on obama. I joked early on he should have went out to sea the initial days and caressed a fish telling it he feels its pain. He didn't go to louisiana for a couple weeks after the incident because no oil had hit shore, but it makes for a convenient attack for Rove et al.
there's a handful of players with expertise in deep water oil drilling, and BP is one of them.... the U.S. govt is not. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Imagine if the U.S. had a state run oil co and this happened, then 100% of incoming attacks would be on Obama, rather than primarily on BP in this case.
Maybe Obama can replace Biden on the '12 ticket with Aquaman...

the RW cuckoos aren't running around claiming that Dubya would have singlehandedly plugged the leak, cleaned up the entire Gulf Coast, and been home in time for dinner.
For that matter, has anyone heard if the religious nuts are trying to pray this away?

18. Maybe they should instead have a stuntman body-double fill in for the President |
|
And then film him today, doing a swan-dive from a yacht into the Gulf of Maxicrude, just to pacify Obama's critics in the MSM.
