Must be tough to be a Getty
In divorce papers filed in LA Superior Court, Jacqueline Getty said she needs to spend $314,727 a month to live like a Getty -- and that figure might be a low estimate.

Peter Getty is the son of Gordon Getty, who has an estimated worth of $2 billion and was ranked No. 158 in the latest Forbes 400 list of richest Americans.

The eye-popping, monthly costs of maintaining a Getty lifestyle, Jacqueline Getty said, include:

* Clothing and accessories for $33,697.

* Buying jewelry worth a sparkling $10,717.

* Leasing, registering and maintaining two cars for $7,495.

* Taking care of various bills for her 23-year-old daughter, Gia Coppola -- granddaughter of moviemaker Francis Ford Coppola -- that total $5,951.

1. People have no concept of the chasm that exists between their lives
and the reality of life for the people that matter, and that ignorance is what allows the parasites to continue to exist.

3. Ain't that the truth. These types have no concept of how 99% of the population lives (or doesn't).
My financial crook cousin suggested we fly over to Rome "for the weekend" to go to one of his favorite restaurants.

Stealing millions does produce a disconnect from reality - at least, from the reality of real people and our lives. For them, that obscene, conspicuous consumption is reality.

4. My best friend worked for a Getty who was (and still is) making a
movie. That particular Getty was whack.

I imagine growing up that wealthy, with no concept of what "real life" is like, has got to mess with your head.

6. and THIS is the kind of crap that is on TV/cable too..Super Sweet Sixteens, Bridezilla, etc, etc.
People are living in a world so removed from reality it is disgusting joke to call them reality shows.

That crap is what today's kids, watching TV,aspire to.

7. On the other side of this
I don't know if they live in a community property state (probably not), the husband has a couple billion dollars in various banks and securities. $314,727 a month is a pretty paltry sum compared to the money Mr. Getty has at his disposal. Oh well, I sure hope he's able to afford a good attorney.
