BP Live Presser (video link to MSNBC)
They are now talking about TopHat2 and/or replacement BOP, either of which will mean opening up the BOP (sawing off the top) to retrofit it.

:scared:

4. If they cut the riser, the flow will be unhindered, and will
continue until the relief wells work.

10. Yep. They are maintaining that the "leak" is only their synthetic "mud" though.
As if mud would self-propel under 5k of water once they stopped pumping it...

16. And, NYT reported only 10% of the mud stayed in the pipe.
That is a big 10% to keep coming like that.

18. Who are they kidding?
Operations stopped TWICE. Tonight they are saying that "TopKill" was suspended at 2:30.

Give me a break, MSM.

22. From what I understand...
The riser is only blocking part of the flow and that a clog down the well is holding back the majority.

Or so sayeth BP.

12. Suttles peddled (without using the words "stopped pumping") a continuing top kill op
when everybody can understand if you stop pumping (as has been reported by the same source that did so yesterday before they came out and admitted as much 16 hours later) you have stopped your attempt. He calls that monitoring the well, ppl in the know say BS.

17. Well guess they have covered all their bases then ...
Now they can just give up on all attempts to stop the oil spill .... and just say they are 'monitoring the well' whenever they damn well feel like it ... OMG ... :freak:

They have said previously that if Top Kill fails, the next stage is
the 'Top Hat' or LMRP Cap procedure. If that fails, next they are going to try to install a second Blow Out Preventor (BOP) on top of the existing one.

Here is the link for the next stage:

15. Thank you. That was helpful HUGE, but helpful.
I would venture to say that it was news to us non-engineering people.

Personally, the thought of them opening up the BOP is terrifying even if it works. If it doesn't, well, I don't even want to go there...

20. The problem...
with the press conference was that the BP COO Suttles didnt come prepared. He had basically been on a flight for 3-4 hours overlooking the Gulf and came straight to the meeting.

I'm glad you got information from the meeting, I felt really disappointed.

Sorry the graphic was so huge, I changed it to a link shortly after I posted.
