4. Curious..a Rush fan? BTW, I am feeling helpless as well.
This is tough for me and I'm in California.

I can't imagine actually wating for it to come ashore.

22. A Rush fan from way back. Awhile ago, after Pres. Obama was elected,
we were allowed to change our names. I decided on "Subdivisions" by Rush because it illustrates so much of what I've decided I'm against, constant sprawl and consumption. Our lives have been reduced to wage slavery and consumerism and social status and conformity to this restricted, controlled and regimented paradigm.

I'm working to change it.

"Subdivisions" by Rush

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu9Ycq64Gy4

Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown
Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer
Or the misfit so alone
Subdivisions -
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out
Subdivisions -
In the basement bars
In the backs of cars
Be cool or be cast out
Any escape might help to smooth
The unattractive truth
But the suburbs have no charms to soothe
The restless dreams of youth
Drawn like moths we drift into the city
The timeless old attraction
Cruising for the action
Lit up like a firefly
Just to feel the living night
Some will sell their dreams for small desires
Or lose the race to rats
Get caught in ticking traps
And start to dream of somewhere
To relax their restless flight
Somewhere out of a memory
Of lighted streets on quiet nights

5. May oil dry up soon so that we can work on developing better & safer energy
Oil is cheap and quick for oil barons/stockbrokers to get rich.

8. It's worse than that. A lot of critters that live all over this hemisphere
and that go there to breed will also be toast. It's not only local, which is horrible enough. The Gulf is like a big nursery.

9. IF it gets the American people to finally face up to the oil addiction...
and corporate greed run amuk-

Then it may at least have a silver lining.

But it won't.

They'll hang it around Obama's neck like a giant oily albatross, and we'll get a hard-right administration in his place.

And the oligarchs will be more firmly entrenched than ever.

18. The ever increasing strain on the oceans has a breaking point
and there has been 30 hard years damage since then. Unless, the relief wells fail we probably won't totally kill the Gulf but we can't keep pushing it. We should count ourselves fortunate if we don't turn the Gulf into the new Dead Sea or a parking lot and STOP NOW.

19. I agree
It's already weakened from the dead zones we've blown into it with agri-industrial runoff. Whatever the outcome, if we don't regard this as a brush with death and act accordingly, we'll almost certainly guarantee ourselves a calamitous collapse of the gulf ecosystem, one way or another.
