All kinds of sad - spills, tornadoes, birds....
The oil spill and its damage makes me so depressed - for the people, the animals, the loss of jobs.

And the tornadoes have been awful.

I wonder if any of you have had the same sad experience as me. The oil spills dwarf my sorrow, but feel it just the same.

Since I've lived here for the last 8 years, the orioles have arrived about the first day of May - usually the females show up a day or so sooner. Then the males.. They take me through about 15 jars of jelly from May to the middle of September, and then they're gone till next year. Yes, orioles love grape jelly.

When their eggs have hatched, they bring the babies and feed them jelly.

This year, NO females have shown up. Only males. That means no nests, no babies...if I feel this bad, how must the people feel by the Gulf?

And hummingbirds - Have only seen two, a male and a female.

I'm thinking it was that 100-mile tornado in Missouri (and other places) that did the girls in. Anybody else missing their orioles? Along with being gorgeous, they also have a beautiful song...

Anybody know about the area hit by the 100-mile wide tornado - what's it look like by now?
