False advertising all over the internet?
I just noticed this. It is actually an advertisement for acai berry weight loss - I think.

It shows up all over. It purports to be an actual news program (Channel 6 News) where one of the anchors agrees to try the acai berry weight loss program to see if it really works.

And, of course, she feels fantastic and ends up losing about 25 pounds in about 15 minutes.

It really looks just like a news program with anchors and everything.

Actually, I think that the acai berry thing has been pretty much discredited. The berries have about the same nutritional value as any berries but nothing more. And the product costs about $4-6 a day if you purchase it.

Here in KC there are other so called "news" items with it where a KC woman earns $6,000 a month from home and where another woman discovers a miracle tooth whitening product that dentists don't want you to know about.

Has anyone else noticed this stuff?

1. False advertising on the internet? You don't say!
I've heard about the acai scam.

It would probably be easier to list all the things on the internet that weren't scams than list all the scams themselves.

It's one of the aspects of the internet that early cyberpunk authors didn't seem to predict, as far as I know -- Spam, and nihilistic trolls. In SciFi stories, people usually only screw with other people when they have some sort of reason.

Someone spent a lot of money. But I guess they probably make a lot more from all of the suckers who respond.

5. Hey, wait!!!
On MY news items, it says that it's a CLEVELAND woman who is earning $6,000 a month from home and a CLEVELAND woman who discovered a miracle tooth whitening product that dentists don't want you to know about! I mean, no fair, KC, trying to take credit for all these miracle accomplishments by CLEVELAND MOMS!!!!

Now, you're not going to tell me that you're in Boston and your ads say it's a Boston woman who is earning $6,000 a month from home and that the miracle tooth whitening product was invented by a Boston woman!!!! Or that you're in Orlando and your ads say it's an Orlando woman who is earning $6,000 a month from home and that the miracle tooth whitening product was invented by an Orlando woman!!!! Or that you're in Denver and...

...No, it can't possibly be!!!!! All amazing earnings and miracle inventions come from MOMS in CLEVELAND! That's what the ads tell me!!!! Please say it's so!!!!!

9. Those little side 'News" ads are showing up on the side of lots of actual news
sites. It just looks another news bulletin.

Did you see the one for the acai berries? It really is pretty amazing.

6. It isn't false it's subversive or advertising in disguise, they have gotten more bold in their
efforts to appear as independent sources 'discovering' or 'reporting' on the product. I've noticed it maybe over the last 10years become more emboldened, started with infomercials and graduated to fake reports and news ads that look almost like parts of magazines/newspapers.
