Man-made Katrina II?
So we geyser oil and coat the entire surface of the Gulf, the oil absorbs heat and prevents heat flow from the water to the atmosphere. Then we have a hurricane season which has a routine Category 1 or 2 pass over the slick and Voila! Category 5 overnight! So BTW, how are those new levees' construction going? You know, the kind they have in The Netherlands...

Hmmm. Not so well...I see. Well, that certainly makes sense.

"General Honore...white courtesy phone..."

Wow, "Who would have thought that New Orleans could get drowned?" That goes along with "Who would have thought that jetliners would be used as missiles?" (Only the creators of the X-files and that notorious left-winger :sarcasm: Tom Clancy.)

1. there's a fringe author that a read of lot in college, Terrence McKenna, who wrote about "novelty,"
and all these "unimaginable" disasters always bring me back to his observations. i think that which he called novelty is actually an unmasking of completely expectable outcomes given the power that's been given to monied interests. and it all goes back to the first condition of political change theory -- is change individual/spiritual (changing people from within) or is it the outcome of social/economic/mass movements? where do you put your energy?

i've always come down on the side of the social/economic methods -- the spiritual stuff results from living that experience.

2. This isn't really a "man made" disaster per se. It's more of a legal person made disaster.
It's a corporate made disaster.

4. I wish we'd stop using the word 'Katrina'
BP deserves its own name attached to this disaster.

this whole business is more than outrageous...positively sick...Rod Serling could have scripted this one...except that in the early 60's the masses wouldn't have believed that industry would be so derelict as to allow this to happen.

My family would have, however...
