Rochester police commissioners approach local stores over glass pipe sales

ROCHESTER — Police Commissioners were not just blowing smoke when they said they wanted to engage the business community about the sale of glass pipes deemed "drug paraphernalia."

Commissioners Lucien Levesque, Al Bemis and Jim McManus recently spent four hours going around to every convenience store, gas station and mom-and-pop store in the city to meet with store owners. Levesque said they entered the stores together wearing their commission jackets, which caught some businesses off guard.

"I think we sort of blew them out of the water," he said. "We wanted to make a point and I think we did."

The commissioners said they were well received by businesses that do not carry the items, but had a harder time stating their case at shops that do sell glass pipes.

2. Hmm. Empty soda or beer cans work just as well!
So are they going to ban the sale of beer and soda?

9. It's easier to just use an empty can than to drive down to the nearest
package store. Now after using the empty can, you may want to walk down to the nearest package store and pick up a six pack and a LOT of munchies!!

:smoke:

6. Glass pipes cannot be 'drug paraphernalia' if they are new
assuming, of course, that presumption of innocence still applies in this country.

10. In trying and difficult times like these
what with the dire state of economies and the loss of jobs, homes, etc., what a relief it is to know that these stupid fuckers have nothing better to do than go talk to people about their imaginary projection of the potential use of a piece of blown glass. What a waste of time and money! Seriously.

The war on some drugs is now becoming a bad joke on the rest of us and those ass-clowns in Rochester should not be dog catchers, let alone Police Commissioners! The people of that community should look into how much free time those witch hunters have and why. Then, maybe they can fire these useless and delusional dead-weights before they use that time to expand their mindless Jihad in order to persecute more innocuous, totally harmless objects and people.

I would think twice about adults who feel threatened by glass pipes, especially if they are allowed to carry weapons and enforce laws.
