For two consecutive days Thad Allen the Coast Guard Commandant holds a news conference and in both he claims that the Top Kill operation has stopped the oil gusher.

1. It's a cluster-fuck.

There's nobody there that has the smarts to co-ordinate the massive multi-agency effort required to mitigate the damages.

It's pretty fucking obvious that the government response is still underwhelming, regardless of the spin the administration is attempting to put on it. It's also obvious that BP is calling the shots. This Thad (Brownie) Allen dude is a joke.

The top kill is history anyway. It won't work. That's why they're trying to put another BOP on top of the damaged one. If they throw more mud in the hole. It will be mostly for PR.

Thad is out of the BP loop. That's the point.

6. I just took a look at the live BP feed now and to me (as no expert) it looks

like day one. They were sure doing a lot of preparation last night probably for the BOP on top of the damaged one knowing things were not going overly well with the top kill. Yeah, I was wondering yesterday, how did Thad suddenly become the expert in all of this. Not that I'm detracting from him, but it's the sudden expert...

I'm not saying it's the same, but Bush would have said, "Thad, you're doing a heck of a job." These incrementally repeated 48 hr. windows certainly says all is not well IMO.

Thad needs to assign any Coast Guard member capable of accessing those newfangled Internets tubes to monitor the conversation over at http://www.theoildrum.com/node/6524, and report back to him what the fucking roughnecks and petro-engineers are concluding. (as they sit hyp-mo-tized, watching the ROVs, just like all the rest of us).

If the Thadster did that, then he would have a real good idea of what's really happening down there. The oil boys on that site have been right on the money so far. They do this shit for a living, unlike the BP PR guys in touch with Thad.
