Why Is No one Looking At the Republicans Role in this Disaster?
Everyone is so busy pointing fingers and blaming others.
Of course BP deserves all the blaming and anger, which so much is still not being focused on these slugs.
and then the usual scapegoat, especially for our illustrious Traditional Media, our president.
There is alot of frustrations and lashing out and anger.

However, from Rising Hegemon:

'To be fair, the Deepwater Horizon wasn't birthed from that bill, but it is of a part. The legacy of this spill has Republican prints all over it, including the lax regulation and inspection (and lax is being king, criminal is being accurate). Obama inherits the clean up and is responsible for it. In a way, truly a metaphor for our times -- Republicans criticizing Democrats for cleaning up their messes.'

he also posted a blurb from Dec. 10, 2006:

WASHINGTON - Hours before adjourning for the year, the U.S. Congress on Saturday sent President George W. Bush legislation that would open 8.3 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico to oil and natural gas drilling and redistribute billions of dollars in royalties to four Gulf states...

Rep. Bobby Jindal, a Louisiana Republican and one of the drilling measure's main supporters, said Bush will sign the bill into law...

So, I ask those on the left, why are we banging our heads and mourning about this spill and throwing our anger at everyone but Jindahl and the Republicans. Afterall, in 2008, wasn't their battle-cry 'Drill, Baby, Drill?

Why are we not harassing our lazy media with questions about why they are attacking the president while, as usual, giving the republicans and Jindahl a free pass. Why is there this double standard and why are they never attacking them for the republicans ruining our country? Why are they not holding them to a standard of basic responsibility.

this will never change until we get off our rear ends and start pushing back - hard.
Progressive changes do not happen, like clean energy, with just expecting one man to do all the heavy lifting, take all the blame, and carry it all on his shoulders alone.
Where the hell are the progressives who demand more progressive policies and where is the left when it comes to putting our own money where our mouth is and push back instead of sitting around complaining.

3. As do I. This is the biggest story in all this IMO
That secret meeting (SECRET TO THIS DAY) I think led to this oil spill and the deaths of those workers.

7. Absolutely. I want to know exactly what he told the energy people
and when. This is the beginning of the investigation. Can we get the records with a freedom of information request?

8. **Sigh**
Yes, I'm sure BP told Cheney they were going to cause a blowout last month that killed 11 people and dragged BP's name thru the mud along with crashing the company's stock price. It's all probably there. Christ...

2. Recommended.
I think that many people recognize this is the direct result of the Cheney policies. However, the corporate media will not focus on this.

9. It's like a lot of things
President Obama had a target list of things to reverse on day one, and many of our fights with him concern those things that were put on the list and not implemented, or were never considered at all. At some point, the President will be held responsible for things that he had the power to change, yet did not change.
