How about creating a whirlpool around the gusher |
|
You know how as kids you'd run around in a circle in those round above-ground pools and create a whirlpool until your parents yelled at you that you're going to break the filter?
Well, like that. Do something to create a vortex that will keep the oil in one place and clean it off the surface at that point.

1. How about making a ginormous screw with 1,000 lines to the surface |
|
Tap into the well and have 1,000 ships on top run in a gigantic circle with the lines attached - to screw it in.
Then add bubble gum, gorilla glue, plastic sheeting & duct tape to seal it off...
Winner?

I think Bo Pilgrim wanted to sell them a half million chickens to stuff down there, but BP said it'd never work. Anyway stuffing one Glenn Beck down there would be easier to manage.

Think you can swim that far down and hold yer breath?
OK, I'm kidding.
I am just not sure how they would go about creating a whirlpool a mile below the surface.
To me, a nobody for sure, it would seem totally impossible with that heavy water pressure.

6. Someone posted the same thing on the Oil Drum forum |
|
A few days ago. One reply said to make thousands of paper chads with a hole-punch, throw them into a backyard pool, swirl them around so that many are below the surface, then get in the pool with some friends, and try using only you and your friends hands on only the surface of the pool water to swirl the pool water around while attempting to make a vortex, and make all the chads go into one spot.
lol!!

7. What they should do is pump really really fast from all the other wells in the gulf |
|
Then, the oil would be sucked back into the broken well... :)

8. My son suggested we start drilling directly across on the other side of the earth |
|
and we would probably get there sooner then BP is going to stop this gusher.
