Why should we allow those in the military to decide whether the military is allowed to continue to discriminate against gay and lesbians?

Do we take a poll before deciding what actions the military should take?

You know: "Ok, show of hands, shall we invade Iraq?"

Give them the order and stop discriminating. Period.

1. The problem isn't with gays in

military at all. The problem is how to deal with the right wingers who can't accept having gays in the military. They would never admit to that but what they need is to have some training for those who feel they cannot accept others. The problem is with the whole framing of the issue. It's the same way for other issues like Iraq, the left shouldn't be put on the defensive, the right needs to explain itself: why are we spending this money for war without examining other solutions, where is the Pentagon going to slash it's budget to pay for this, etc.
