The gulf of Mexico renamed to the Gulf of BP Oil |
|
I can't imagine how much oil is in the ocean now spilling into the Gulf. And if it takes more months to finally plug it it is incomprehensible how much more millions of gallons will be floating around polluting the ocean. Maybe the Gulf of Mexico will have to be renamed as the majority of it will be a literal sea of oil. As far as the eye can see, a black ocean of water with waves and surf too.
The sad thing is I don't believe we will learn any lessons from this disaster. In a year or two it will be forgotten and they will resume deep water drilling in search of the ever desperate need for more oil to fuel our luxurious and decadent society. The last thing we would do is cut back on our driving, our luxuries, or our business and consumption of oil to help matters, we are just too selfish and short sighted as a people I think.

all of this would be forgotten in a year or two, covered up with money, propaganda, misinformation and lies. As I understand it there are still enormous problems from Katrina and that for many is out of sight out of mind anymore, same is true with the ongoing wars for many.
This all has a lot of media attention now for the profit margin, but I'm willing to bet this will fade from the public mind overtime, but yet the devastation will linger for a very very long time. The US is very good at being reactionary, but lacking in being proactive.
Money and politics will cover a lot up. The oil companies will just contribute more as political contributions as hush money.
