Israel reacts angrily to US support of resolution for nuclear free Middle East
by Jeff Musall
May 30, 2010

A resolution adopted by the United Nations on Friday, May 28th calls on Israel to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and urges it to open its facilities to inspection.

It also calls for a regional conference in 2012 to advance the goal of a nuclear-free Middle East.

“Israel is not obligated by the decisions of this conference, which has no authority over Israel,” a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office distributed to press travelling with him in Toronto said.

“It singles out Israel, the Middle East’s only true democracy and the only country threatened with annihilation,” the statement said. “It ignores the realities of the Middle East and the real threats facing the region and the entire world.”

Although Israel has never confirmed or denied having nuclear weapons, Netanyahu's statements seem to indicate the positive, which has been called the "worst kept secret" in the Middle East.

Our sanctions against Iran and North Korea would have more support if we did not allow the elephant in the room to remain silently in the corner. And we can get further reductions in nuclear stockpiles and more countries to renounce what they do have.

1. It's too bad so any Americans always support Israel when they
aren't always right. I understand their fears of Iran, but it seems they are also guilty of asking for trouble. With some compromise there could have been peace in that region years ago. It's even worse now under the rule of Netenyahu.

3. Good that Israel opposes the resolution or good that President Obama is supporting the resolution?

5. Gee ...what about them dealing nukes to South Africa?
Oh ...Israel can do no wrong that would ever separate them from our yearly 5 billion $ charity list and the blind support they get from our idiot government.

no mention in the documents of nuclear weapons, yields, or other specific things that generally surround nuclear weapons.

10. The spineless members of congress
are afraid of the Jewish lobby, they have watched as other members of congress go down in defeat if they refuse to cow tow to Israels desires. There should be a law passed to keep foreign countries out of our elections.

11. Netherlands and England
How about England - whose British Petroleum has befouled our shores and fishing grounds, dealt falsely with our regulatory agencies, bribed officials of our regulatory agencies, probably destroyed about 1/3 of our seafood industry, and whose unlawful actions will most certainly be reflected in the pump price of gasoline and in the sticker price of CAFE compliant cars.

How about the Netherlands and England - whose Royal Dutch Shell who conspired with others (US) to topple Mohammed Mossadegh and impose Shah Raz Palevi on the people of Iran (Laying the foundation for Khomeini),and hiring a Cornell professor, David Pimentel, to attack alcohol fuels.

And what have they done to elections?
