1. Perhaps we should "connect the dots" for them, then?
If they are not already reviewing all the drilling policies, we ALL need to remind them.

5. Waxman is going there, getting his ducks in a row...
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2010/05/investigating-the-oil-spill-henry-waxman-rides-again/57420/

The disaster falls under Waxman's committee jurisdiction at Energy and Commerce, and he has launched an investigation, along with Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Bart Stupak, into how the spill happened and the corporate and governmental response to it.

The top executives of companies involved in the Deepwater Horizon well--Transocean President and CEO Steven Newman, BP American Chairman and President Lamar McKay, and Halliburton Global Business Lines President Tim Probert--all appeared before a subcommittee hearing on the spill earlier this month. The subcommittee has received hundreds of thousands of pages of documents, as well as testimony of EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, former Minerals Management Service head Elizabeth Birnbaum, academics, and other administration officials regarding the spill and response.

6. I don't think it can happen remember
some organization sued to get these documents. Cheney took it all the way to the supreme court. After taking Scalia on a hunting and fishing trip
Scalia voted to keep the records secret. Of course there was a 5 to 4 decision (republicans all voting in Cheney's favor) to keep these records out of the publics viewing. So now unless they can find a way to try to reverse the supreme court decision and with 5 to 4 republican still the majority, they won't get them and
Cheney knows it. That's why he and his witch of a daughter are spewing their lies and hate to the American people.

7. congress can still ask the questions....expose them or live with the consequences
Edited on Mon May-31-10 09:03 AM by spanone
which is what we are doing now

perhaps a suit taken to the supremes would now overturn their decision, considering the current disaster in the gulf???

9. "Impeachment is off the table"
Edited on Mon May-31-10 09:48 AM by howaboutme
That is what they call the "root cause of the problem".

Had there been an investigation of Bush and Cheney this all would have come out. Why Pelosi took it off the table we can only speculate. Did the Democrats have dirty hands or there were powerful forces that controlled both Ds and Rs and didn't want 9-11 or the Iraq War or energy policy to be investigated.

An impeachment trial would have corrected Presidential behavior for decades to come as was indicated on a Bill Moyer's interview.

14. If it were part of a court case (criminal charges against some oil guy)
then that lawyer could ask for another decision. Maybe in 5-6 years that will happen.
