BOISE -- A Boise woman was on a ship that was attacked by Israeli navy commandos Monday morning.

At least nine people died on the ship. It was part of a flotilla carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists to the Gaza Strip.

One of them is Fatima Mohammadi who grew up in Boise, is a Boise State University graduate, and worked as a public defender for Ada County.

Mohammadi's mother waits for any information on her daughter.

1. I'd love to get an accurate count of how many died
I heard it was 20 earlier today.

2. I've heard many things about the death count. I read now that 16 are being sent to jail,

and the plan for many will be deportation. Israel has taken the cargo as well, according to early reports.

Many of the 'activists' seemed to be of advanced age, like 70 and 80 years? Is this correct?

Edited to add:

The press calls the passengers 'activists'. I prefer the term humanitarians. The MEdia is trying to frame the discussion once again, IMHO.

3. Terrible.
It's difficult to comprehend this. The US needs to join the rest of the civilzed world and hold the thugs who did this responsible.

4. Dream on
You are correct of course, but the reflexive action of the US government will be to accept the bull crap stories coming out of Israel and try to stifle any reporting of the actual facts.

I'm not certain about Obama's personal feelings on this matter, but there are enough pro Israel sycophants still in place in the State and Defense Departments that he is not likely to get any kind of honest appraisal of the matter.

Israel is still calling the shots in US mideast policy.

5. Agreed.
This particular regime in Israel is out of control and must be held accountable. Will the US lead or abdicate?
