9th Circuit loses a conservative judge, awaits confirmation of new members

Chief Justice John Roberts, right, talks with Judge Andrew Kleinfeld of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals after Roberts spoke at Alaska Bar Association convention in Fairbanks, Alaska, Thursday, May 3, 2007.

Judge Andrew Jay Kleinfeld will take senior status in a few days and provide Obama with another opportunity to dramatically change the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Kleinfeld who was nominated by Ronald Reagan on March 26, 1986 to the District bench and nominated by George H.W. Bush on May 23, 1991 to the 9th Circuit is considered a conservative member of the nation's most liberal Circuit court.

The loss of a Republican nominee will result in this composition of the court as of June 12th 2010:

Pending 9th Circuit nominations

Nominee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
Pending full Senate confirmation vote
39 Years Old.

Judge Mary Murguia, U. S. District Court, District of Arizona
Nominee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
Pending hearing and action by the Judiciary Committee
49 years old

Vacant seat 5 (no nominations for yet)

Vacant seat 12 (the seat discussed above)

5. Prop 8 federal trial will end up in the 9th circuit court of appeals
Here is to hoping we get a few more people that will vote to overturn it before it makes it there!
