1975 was the fall of South Vietnam. A few years ago, a letter from Kissinger that was declassified showed that in 1969, he was willing to agree to withdraw if the North Vietnamese would promise to create a decent interval - 2 years - before the fall of Saigon.

This shows all the Americans who died or were injured from 1969 - 1973 died so that Nixon could save face.

... because apart from failed invasions by the Khmers Rouges and China, that's what Vietnam got after 1975, following 30 years of conflict.

Iraq's not going to be that easy, of course - there are too many players each with their own agenda. But so long as there's a sectarian puppet government seen to be dependent on foreign arms, there won't be any peace. How could there be?
