Curious: Does the Yahoo DU Emergency Group still exist?
I remember many years back when DU would occasionally go down before all the major improvements EarlG has added to the site (and we all were pretty concerned about the Bush* admin's intent vis-a-vis the internet) that we established an emergency group at Yahoo. Does that still exist? Anyone still have the link? (I was just going through my old bookmarks and noticed a thread that mentioned it, but no details...)

3. It's a Yahoo group..
go to Yahoo home, click link at left: Groups,
then search engine.

I get messages occasionally thru that group,
specially when there's something big goin' on
politically, and DU crashes due to traffic-

4. It's the "DU Panic Room":
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DUPanicRoom/

Not a lot of action as we don't have as many breakdowns as in the past.

:hi:

8. LOL... Did you see that Bill Maher used that for the statuette
for his "stupidest state" award (which was won by AZ in a "to the death match" with AL and AK)

12. Given Lieberman's intent to put a "kill switch" on the internet...
That no longer sounds so paranoid...

http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/node/37874
Sen. Joe Lieberman is telling his critics to "relax" over a bill that would allow the president to disable parts of the internet as he deems necessary. China has an internet "kill switch" and the U.S. should too, according to Lieberman.

"We need this capacity in a time of war. We need the capacity for the president to say, internet service provider, we've got to disconnect the American internet from all traffic coming in from another foreign country, or we have to put a patch on this part of it," Lieberman told CNN's Candy Crowley Sunday.

"So I say to my friends on the internet, relax. Take a look at the bill. And this is something that we need to protect our country. Right now China, the government, can disconnect parts of its internet in case of war and we need to have that here too," he said.
