Gawker: Mike Huckabee Has Many Jokes About Gay Marriage, Affairs With Old Ladies

"The New Yorker has published a hot 8,000+ word profile of jovial Arkansas ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee, now of Fox News. Will this "nice guy" run against Barack Obama in 2012, or is he too busy making offensive dirty jokes?

The New Yorker profiler, Ariel Levy, points out the obvious problem with Huckabee, which is that he does not know how to act like an adult sometimes, far beyond the point at which he'd get credit from voters for candor and good humor. Levy tries to prod him sometimes, too, and doesn't have much trouble: one little joke quickly snowballs into a stand-up routine about how nasty it would be to bone some old ladies.

Huckabee does deviate from Party orthodoxy on some issues. But what makes him even less predictable as a politician is his sense of humor. At times, he seems unable to resist the force of his own funniness. I joked with him once that I would write about his (fictitious) affair with Nancy Pelosi. He e-mailed back, "The only thing worse than a torrid affair with sweet, sweet Nancy would be a torrid affair with Helen Thomas. If those were my only options, I'd probably be FOR same-sex marriage!"
