12. Obama couldn't do what you suggest

In terms of discipline, the very most the military could do would be a fine and forfeiture (which has happened to generals in the past). But when you're going to fire him (effectively ending a long military career), there's no point in piddling around with additional minor punishments. That would have been a big mistake.

Oh, and "the brig" is the Navy's term (aboard ship, AKA "boat jail," according to Rachel Maddow). In the Army, it's the stockade.
