McCain's national political director leaving to spend more time with the family

McCain memo . . .

Doom Gloom: GOP presidential hopeful John McCain's national political director, Michael Dennehy, just stepped off the campaign trail for "family reasons." He played the critical role in McCain's 2000 upset of Bush in New Hampshire.

• Translation: A week after a less than stellar performance at the First GOP debate, this is bad news that the McCain camp doesn't need.

4. Nope, he'll make it to the primaries, and here's why:
5 years in a POW camp, without killing himself or accepting early release. Whatever else is wrong with him, he is one tough, tenacious little bastard--he'll hang in there like a snot. He wants to be President--BAD!

5. i got a secret for you--one that i'm now somewhat embarrassed by--
i was a volunteer for his campaign in 99 and early in 2000 until he was out, after SC i lost my faith in him for not fighting back.

6. My husband and I supported him and sent him money in 2000. My husband switched
from a "D" to an "R" to vote in the R primary for him (he is now an "I", a very politically confused individual, my husband is). Be not ashamed--many good, upstanding Dems fell for McCrazy. I still have a little tiny soft spot for him, but mostly it's just pity and disgust now.
