Putin compares US foreign policy to Nazis

May 11, 2007

MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has obliquely compared the foreign policy of the US to the Third Reich in a speech commemorating the 62nd anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany, reports said yesterday.

The New York Times reported Mr Putin drew the analogy in a speech congratulating Russian veterans of World War II, and the paper said the comments were interpreted as the latest in a series of Russian criticisms of the foreign policy of the US -- on Iraq, missile defence, NATO expansion and unilateralism in foreign affairs.

"We do not have the right to forget the causes of any war, which must be sought in the mistakes and errors of peacetime," Mr Putin said.

"Moreover, in our time, these threats are not diminishing," he said. "They are only transforming, changing their appearance. In these new threats, as during the time of the Third Reich, are the same contempt for human life and the same claims of exceptionality and diktat in the world."

"His dying words: Putin poisoned me: Radiation kills Russian ex-spy"

Putin speaks out of... maybe not 'hypocrisy', but the dude's bizarre and has no credibility at all.

Let's see how long before corporations start offshoring to Russia too...

4. Coming Soon: 2 Weeks of Putin Worship on DU?
Just like we had two weeks of Ahmadinejad worship when he badmouthed Israel.

5. The parallels are all too obvious between the 3rd Reich and America's foreign policy.
A reliance on military force being the primary one.

7. Well, the U.S. war in Iraq is like Hitler's failed attempt to invade the USSR
in Operation Barbarossa.
