I think the whole liquid bomb fiasco turned out to be some kid talking big at the mosque, the alledged bombers apprently didn't even have passports let alone any background in chemistry.
Meanwhile I get some asshole from "Bad Ethnic Stereotype Central Casting" badgering me about my contact lense solution and a perscription drug I have to take for an ear infection.

4. Even with a background in chemistry |
|
for the "liquid bomb" to work you have to mix the chemicals in liquid form, then dry it into a powder. I believe I read that to actually do it would take a couple of days. So unless you are on Jet Blue in a snowstorm, it would be quite a feat.

5. Exactly, why prosecute the intent of the crime when it is impossible to commit? |

What if I professed to being an alchemist, would a hypothetical government charge me with intent to devalue the currency reserves despite the fact that one cannot transmute lead into gold?
Seems like the rule of law should work with the laws of science/reality.

Padilla had a dirty bomb, except for the explosives and the radioactive material.

7. The TSA insists the liquid bomber threat is still out there. |
|
At least their spokesman said so a month ago. Yes air transport has been at orange alert for nine months over this, but the TSA assures us that the threat is real.
