1. At first, I was really curious about her odd body language. |
|
When Stephen first came to the interrogation table :), she turned away from him in her chair.
Of course, now I know she was positioning herself to get up and walk toward him. But, at the time, it really seemed odd.
Thanks for posting the video... that was quite the moment!
He was so had!

3. Yes he indeed was "had" here |
|
Perhaps my favorite Stephen Colbert interview ever! In a sense it was one American Patriot having fun with another American Patriot who makes a living by making fun of others....well that is how I see the two of them at any rate.

21. I have to admit really enjoying seeing a woman one-up Stephen! |
|
I don't think he saw that coming at all, and it was so fine that it was not only a woman but an OLD woman at that (horrors!) who had Colbert boxed in a corner with no acceptable retreat.
Damn! She was good!

2. it endeared me to Colbert |
|
you could see the real man behind the act come out.
he was genuinely turned on and genuinely worried about what his wife would think.
the implied dedication to his wife and genuine worry made him seem human, almost, a bit like the liberals that jon stewart and other entertainment moguls are without hitting you over the head.
it's like you could see his genuine respect for the woman even thru his boner for her. strange.
but I still wonder, why do liberals have to dress like republicans to be heard in this country?
wishing for a liberal comedy show where the liberal dresses in hawaiian shirts... i'm so sick of the american flag pin on a blue suit.

Are not mutually exclusive.
I can do both at the same time, thank you very much.
As a matter of fact, the more I respect a woman, then the bigger... the rest of this sentence will get me deleted (if I'm not there already).

I have the most respect for (i.e., their intelligence, humor, passion).

5. I think it was totally unplanned for by the Colbert people |
|
Stephen looked way outside of his comfort zone here! Jane Fonda still has "it" in more ways than looks.
As far as how our media types dress? I have never given it much thought. I do remember seeing Jon Stewert in a nappy looking green sweater at a scheduled live interview once. Now that you mention it that is about the only time I have seen him dressed that way. On his show he always wears a nice suit. He should consider dressing casual for the show once in awhile. Stephen mocks the right wingers so he really has no choice here. If bill o'liely were to come on his show in a turtle neck I'll bet Stephen would do the same thing the very next day and make a big deal about it early on.

11. Well, a poster upthread suggested Hawaiian shirts are liberal. You know, like Tom Selleck. |
|
The whole line of reasoning is stewpid, of course. A coat and tie is not "dressing Republican." Neither is wearing a flag lapel (which I do on Sept. 17th and other non-holiday national anniversaries). It's just a professional look. Every Democratic Congressman wears a coat and tie to work. That's not a costume; it's respect for the office and the work they do.

I don't get that comment...
I dress in suits all the time---and Polos, etc...
and I'm as Liberal as they come.

after that! Ahhhhh, to be a fly in the wall of the Colbert home..."but honey, she's old enough to be my Mom!"
Jane Fonda is a true inspiration..showing that women can still be hot at 69!

If she doesn't, then can I volunteer to take her place? "Okay, Steve. You can cuddle with Jane, just as long as it's on camera".

and thank you Jane Fonda for being you, that was good. And most of all thank you for helping to get us out of Vietnam. without her bold statements many staid ole bastages would never have admitted what we were doing there was wrong. I loved her then and I love her now. Jane is my hero

When I posted this I did not even expect this many responses! Got recommended 9 times is beyond belief! I am VERY happy that those of you who may have missed this particular episode of The Colbert Report have had the chance to enjoy it as much as I. I feel that it was an exceptional piece with two exceptional people. Earlier I joined in with a bit of snark...again I say I was wrong to do so. I admire both of these American Patriots dearly. They have both earned our respect and then some! :patriot:

want to recommend again. That show was hysterically funny! Jane Fonda was great and it was clear Colbert was embarassed and flattered at the same time. Before this I thought the "Ladies Day" cooking episode was the best show ever where it all began. Thank's for bringing it to more people's attention :dem:
