Yesterday, a 1,000+ DUer commented that my profile is rather sparse. He's right. Thing is, I'm a private person. I don't like giving out a lot of details about myself. But I can certainly understand why people on this website (which I really like) might be suspicious. I'm certain there are "newbs" here that are actually trolls who properly belong on redstate.com, Freeperville, or other wingnut repositories. But I'm not one of them. Soooooooooo...

Please allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Bruce Nathaniel Roberts. I live in Gary, Indiana. I'm 47 years old. Straight Caucasian male. I have OCD. I'm a control freak. I make friends easily, but I'm fucking TERRIBLE at keeping them. I get into relationships with women, but am equally awful at keeping them. The responsibility is entirely mine.

I'm a liberal, of course, but not in every area: I was in my mother's womb during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and I still don't trust the Russians. I own a handgun. There are a few conservatives I admire, like Bob Dole: I don't agree with him, I voted against him in 1996, but I like the guy personally.

Other than that, I'm a straight-ass liberal: I've never voted for a Republican. The Iraq war is shit. (And I've been saying that since six months before we foolishly started it.) I initially supported Dubya's attack on Afghanistan, but quickly soured after he let bin Laden escape from Tora Bora.

Our boys and girls in both countries should be brought home YES.TER.DAY!

This is gonna sound nuts, but it's true: I was born and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire, but I've never personally met a presidential candidate! I've lived in Gary for thirteen years now.

Uh, what else? I've had a few crime stories published (fiction), but have received the grand sum total of $178.58 for them.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Suffice it to say, I'm glad to be here! :-)

information on an internet forum). Also, there are rules about calling out newbies, next time alert when it happens. Some people forget they were newbies once too.

A few years ago, a friend who runs a small progressive website warned me that someone was doing an internet search on me. My paranoia was short-lived, as it turned out that my "seeker" was a guy I'd worked with as Kerrytraveler volunteers in Ohio in '04. We'd had a lot of fun working together in the campaign, and he simply wanted to get back in touch.

In that case the scrutiny was benign, but I remember how uncomfortable I felt being the target of a search, and I'm even more careful now about protecting my privacy online. I heartily second sufrommich's advice.

I concur with what the above poster said though - you might want to consider removing some of your personal info while you can still edit your post (one hour limit I think).

I remember the time, years ago, freepers got hold of the info someone had posted here and used it to chase him down to his place of employment and got him fired. Make sure they can't harm you with any personal info you post!

I made phone calls and went dtd for Obama two years ago, and I think he's doing a fantastic job! Sure, I've been disappointed by a couple of his decisions, but, considering the shit-covered hand he was dealt by Dubya the Dumb and Dick the Undead, I think he deserves a solid fuckin' A!
