SAN FRANCISCO—With the dust barely settled from California's primaries, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer is targeting Republican challenger Carly Fiorina's ties to Sarah Palin in the battle ahead of the November election.

The Boxer campaign released a YouTube video last week that attempts to paint the former Hewlett-Packard Co. chief executive as an arch-conservative in the mold of the former Alaska governor. Ms. Palin, who has been active in many races around the country this year, endorsed Ms. Fiorina a month before the June 8 GOP primary.

The Palin backing is generally considered to have helped Ms. Fiorina among Republican primary voters. Ms. Boxer is betting that it won't play well among California's more-moderate electorate in the general election.

One survey of adults nationally suggested that Ms. Palin's support might be more of a liability than a help. In the Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll of likely voters released last week, 25% of respondents said they would be enthusiastic or comfortable with a candidate receiving an endorsement from Ms. Palin, while 58% said they would have reservations or be uncomfortable with an endorsement from the former Alaska governor.

"Sarah Palin and Carly Fiorina: Wrong for California," concluded Ms. Boxer's short video, which noted the two GOP women share conservative beliefs such as opposition to abortion and support of offshore oil drilling—in contrast to what the video and several independent polls say are the views of many Californians.

Ms. Fiorina, Ms. Palin and Ms. Boxer didn't return calls seeking comment.

1. Hang that moron around the necks of everybody she endorsed!
They always act like she's so popular....bullshit! My MIL voted Dem FIRST TIME IN HER 83 YEARS last election, she doesn't even like Obama but she kept saying "how can they put THAT STUPID WOMAN a heartbeat away from the Presidency?" Espcially in CA -- she is extremely unpopular.

2. Look to the bright side:
Maybe if Fiorina wins she quits half way through her term?

:silly:

3. Fiorina is also quite the liar.
She posits herself as one of those "bootstrappers" a self made woman who rose through the ranks on her own accord and wits, and through her successes.

Successes?

When she was with HP her company saw a string of profit losses and jobs disappearing for employees while she gladly took jaw dropping bonuses for herself. As usual with republicans, being rewarded for failure.

5. The mixed success of golden parachute recipients
I have a very old-fashioned, conservative, and maybe archaic view of private sector companies.

As much as it sounds like a cliche, I honestly do believe that the CEO is "Captain of the Ship."

If a CEO pulls down an astronomically large salary & compensation package based upon performance and the success of the company for all involved, well...as long as ethics were at the core of the business, more power to them.

But in Fiorina's case, when she walked away with $45 million after destroying the company culture and proving herself a failure at her job, that's just obscene. She's either too arrogant to know how hated she is, or too stupid. Either way, she's too arrogant and/or stupid to hold public office.

But as I've said many, many times on DU...as a Silicon Valley resident and someone who spent a month and a half working as a contractor at HP during Fiorina's reign, this woman simply lacks any admirable or redeeming qualities. She's the worst of the worst, she managed to walk away with her swag, and now she's back for more. Let's hope California voters have better sense than to elect her.

4. Regarding shared beliefs...
...if I was making that ad, I'd wonder out loud if Carly also shares Sarah's belief that it's okay to scrap 40% of the term you were elected to serve.
