Pyongyang, Tehran vow to stand up to arrogant global powers
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=247846
RIA Novosti): Iran will assist North Korea economically and help it otherwise to 'stand up to arrogant global powers,' an Iranian top official said Thursday.

'Tehran does not see any obstacles in developing ties with Tehran and is ready to offer its economical, infrastructural, and technological achievements for North Korea's progress and prosperity,' first vice president of Iran Parviz Davoodi said in Tehran during a meeting with deputy North Korean foreign minister Kim Hyong-jun.

He said the two countries were very close on many international issues, including 'standing up to arrogant global powers.'

2. Korean "Juche" isn't all removed from religious fundamentalism.
North Korea and its ludicrous notion of "socialism" allying with Iran makes total sense. They are both reactionary nationalist states. At the same time, I totally believe that the US is a superpower that does need to be held in check and curtailed. There needs to be an alternative to the superpower war machine on the one hand, and backward feudalistic autocrats on the other.

3. Imperialism makes all kinds of enemies, all around the world.

You may disagree (probably) but this kind of alliance was the inevitable result of the current US (PNAC) attempt to terrorize the rest of the planet into submission to multinational capitalism. Another great accomplishment by the monkey.

4. Once upon a time
I was going on about a jerkoff head of State who was only in his
position because of his father. Otherwise he would be a useless nobody.
The guy was totally inept, knew nothing about economics, and was a
military wannabe who never got anywhere near a fight himself, and loved
prancing around in public as long as he was shielded from the real world,
getting himself praised by a media apparatus beholden to only to him in the
first place.

Some lamebrain Bush supporter heard the last part of this without hearing
the beginning of the discussion. He came up and said I was being unpatriotic
by laying into "our" president that way, only looking for the negative.

I explained that I had been talking about North Korea's Kim Jong Il, but
if he saw so many parallels, he might just be on to something.

That was pretty much the end of his part in the discussion.
