WASHINGTON -- Cate Edwards, the 25-year-old daughter of presidential hopeful John Edwards, is behind her parents' decision to continue the campaign despite Elizabeth Edwards' incurable cancer.
"If these were Mom's last days, would she spend them sitting at home? I don't think she would," the Harvard law student told Harper's Bazaar.
"Can't they do both?" she said of criticism suggesting her father should not run for the sake of her younger brother and sister, 7-year-old Jack and 9-year-old Emma Claire. "They've made the decision that those two things must be simultaneously possible -- to continue the campaign and to parent young children."
Cate Edwards had harsh words for Ann Coulter, who used the word 'faggot' in referring to John Edwards.
"I think very little of what comes out of Ann Coulter's mouth is legitimate political talk, but that in particular was so offensive because it's just incredibly derogatory," she said. "I was offended that people were clapping for that kind of language. It's hate talk."
