Other than the REALLY GOOD interview with Keith Olberman via MSNBC and the story via Think Progress (see DU link below) - there is scant information on why CBS would fire General Batiste for speaking a truth shared by many in the military and political circles. Anybody come across an offical statement from CBS itself?
For years, we have witnessed former generals, colonels, or "military analysts" on all the major MSM news channels using a pointer, a map, and computer added graphics which shows troop movements and enemy positions. Implicit in all this military analysis is support for Shrub's actions; just listen to the adjectives used to describe progress, successful campaigns, counter insurgence, using drones to attack enemy positions etc. There was no hiding a pro-war position. If General John Batiste is fired for denouncing our current military strategy in Iraq - then EVERY military analyst that works for CBS in the studio or on the battle field needs to be fired for a partisan view as well!
What hypocracy...

Iraq veteran Gen. John Batiste “has been asked to leave his position as a consultant to CBS News” over a new VoteVets ad criticizing the Iraq war. He was interviewed tonight by MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=2842063&mesg_id=2842063
