America Has Oil on the Brain

Lisa Margonelli traveled thousands of miles from her local gas station to oil fields half a world away to try and understand how Americans can buy 10,000 gallons a second without giving it much thought.

3. Yes but the high price of gas in other developed western...
...countries is in part due to the taxes levied to fund first rate public transportation in those countries.

4. I agree
It's the missing part of the "gripe". It should be Yes to $6, Yes to fuel efficiency, No to corporate profit, Yes to cheap public transport.

2. You'd think that would let BIG OIL give better dividends to stock holders
Instead it makes bigger executive salaries and bonuses.

5. Shhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell that to the small stock holders that think high gas prices
means more money coming to them, after all that will ruin their illusion that they are on their way to being one of the special people making lots and lots of money. Stupid bastards don't get it, they buy that product and the more they pay for the product the less money they earn on stocks. People that make you want to cuff in the head to knock sense into. Like the person that gambles or plays the lotto, never once do they realize they win nothing, they just get some of their money back.
