A Florida "Show me your papers" law?
Governor Charlie Christ has called a session of the Florida state legislature regarding the issue of offshore drilling. But according to the Florida branch of the ACLU, the Republicans that control Tallahassee want to bring up an Arizona type "Show me your papers" law.

The lunatic fringe of the Republican Party has long since stepped off the edge of the cliff of insanity. And it seems that the rest of the Republican Party is following them.

In Florida, three counties, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, contain about half the state's population and can swing a presidential election. But the state legislature has the majority of districts represented by Republicans who seem as crazy as much of the rest of their party has become.

I thought the end of the Bush/Cheney era signaled the end of American fascism for the time being. Stupid me.

4. Most snowbirds vote in the north.
Elections, (aside from primaries), are in November.

5. Stupid move
Politically, it would just be handing Charlie more votes when he vetoes it. It would be wiser to wait till the next election, see who the new Gov is and pick it up then. :smoke:

6. How about a law that requires rich people with really clean
houses and well manicured yards to prove to the cops that they haven't hired any undocumented workers?
