Only a complete dumbass would regard anything from Breitbart/Fox as credible. I doubt they (the
Obama appointees) are that ignorant or stupid or gullible. That would be the best case interpretation, and the one they seem to be making in their "defense."

Instead, it seems to be yet one more case of "if you can't fight them, join them."

They were raising hell about it too. Does it occur to anyone that they were putting pressure on Vilsack to fire Sherrod? That they were trying to prove they didn't tolerate the kind of racism the tea party does?

5. They were both just trying to cover their asses and "prove"
that they weren't associated with anyone who was (FALSELY!!!) accused. This was rank and rancid opportunism and capitulation by both organizations. Utter cowardice and positioning politics. Not one hint of honesty or integrity in either case.

6. I think you may be right.
It makes sense.

It doesn't in any way exonerate the NAACP from their bad judgment on this, but I think this was an attempt to not appear hypocritical. I hope they've learned a lesson from this.

Vilsack, if he was getting pressured by them, may have figured that the NAACP wouldn't push it if the charges weren't true. That wouldn't totally exonerate him either but I think it's at least understandable. Hopefully he's also learned a lesson.

8. If we went after Breitbart and Fox
with half the venom we go after our own administration, maybe we could effect some of that change everybody keeps snickering about.

passion they go after their base, Breitbart et al would be a bit more careful about their hateful actions.

I have gone after Breitbart, O'Keefe, Giles and their racist backers as much as I can, online and off. I have NOT gone after this administraion, unless you consider disagreeing with some of their policies 'going after them'.

But those who were literally begging them NOT to give in on Van Jones, on ACORN because if they did, it would not stop, were ignored.

It hurts me to have to say that the Democrats are weak. They care more what buffoons like Breitbart have to say than the people who elected them which is evident in how each these clowns throw a faux temper tantrum, decent people are fired or defunded by Dems.

I wish we had strong leaders who would have stood by ACORN no matter how much kicking and screaming they heard from the right. And when Glen Beck et al lied outright lied about Van Jones, where was the response from Dems? The response was to fire him.

It is no wonder that this happened, and it will happen again, and again. If anyone thinks they will stop because this time ONE WOMAN stood up and demanded that the truth be told, they do not know these criminals.

Where's tough-guy Rahm when he's needed? He should be all over TV tonight exposing these liars, who is backing them, telling the public who they are and what they've done and who is funding them. Wasn't he supposed to be the 'attack dog'? The only people I've seen him attack are Obama's supporters. He doesn't seem very tough to me.

This is a perfect opportunity to announce a bill to restore the Fairness Doctrine, and to use this and the ACORN lies as examples of why it is so badly needed.

But that won't happen. The DLCers will advise that we can't do that, because it would anger the right and cause more problems.

There's an old saying 'you may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb' which applies perfectly to this situation.

Whether Dems go after them or not, it will make no difference. They HATE democrats or people they perceive to be liberals, progressives and the poor and minorities and they need nothing other than their existence to continue to rouse them up. So, knowing that, Democrats may as well do something about them, because they won't stop until someone stops them.

3. Did you see Gibbs presser today? He conveyed a clear apology for actions taken
before all the facts were clear. I'll be waiting for Breitbart and Fox to do the same - since it was *their* set up.

7. Did you see Rachel tonight? FOX is blming the WH for being too hasty and
not checking the story before they knee jerke reacted! You REALLY didn't expect anyone at THAT network to ever take responsibility or apologize for anything did you?

4. Remember the chaos over ACORN? That turned out to be BS too,
but not until ACORN was bankrupted and gone! It's easy to play Monday AM QB, but as Ed, & Rachel both said, FOX really does know exactly what they're doing and they're very good at it.

anything there, well maybe other than weather reports, is a lie being put forward to advance a reich wing corporatist agenda. Maybe Vilsack and Ben Jealous are as ignorant about those sources as they pretend, but I don't believe it. They were capitulating in the attempt to avoid being stink-bombed again. Sick, pathetic, cowardly and self-defeating tactics and strategies.

They had the entire tape so they knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they took that snippet out of context. Thank God for the Spooners.

Faux was definitely caught with their hand in the cookie jar. The sad part is that they will most likely get away with it and their brainwashed minions fans will pass over it and continue on to the next "outrage".

12. Unfortunately, my dear CAL,
there are many, many, "complete dumb asses" in this country,
particularly the droves of republican (and independent) sheep,
who listen and react to anything the Fox Noise Channel regurgitates....
Thank God at least half of us (I hope..!!) have enough sense to filter out
the made up lies from the facts.
I just wish Obama would become
"FIRED UP, AND READY TO GO....!!"
Yep.
Did he actually say that, at one time..??!!
Seems like a lifetime ago....
:(

Sadly, yes. I watched the inauguration with tears of hope in my eyes. And hope beyond imaginable hope, Springsteen and Seeger played Guthrie. Something I would never even imagined possible at such an event.

"Another world is possible."

Seemed so up to then. Since then, "well no, not really" seems to be the reply.

(And welcome to DU. Fast traffic means sometimes the usual hello, welcome never gets posted.)
