Bachmann: "All we should do is issue subpoenas and hold hearings"
Edited on Thu Jul-22-10 04:10 PM by sufrommich
Should Republicans take back the House in November, Rep. Michele Bachmann said she wants the GOP to focus all of its attention on issuing subpoenas and holding hearings investigating the Obama administration and Democrats.

“I think that’s all we should do,” Bachmann said at the GOP Youth Convention in Washington on Thursday. “I think all we should do is issue subpoenas and have one hearing after another and expose all the nonsense that has gone on."

Bachmann said that Republicans have all their chips on the table in November. “This is the year — this is it,” she said.

I doubt that Bachmann is alone on this one. They'll do what they did with Clinton, throw shit against the wall and hope something sticks. As Michelle Bachmann admits "that's all they do".

5. Right? As soon as the swearing in was done the subpoenas should have been sent out..
..Democrats, it seems, never, ever, EVER learn...(just like Charlie Brown)..

All of this "middle-way" bi-partisan shit is for the birds...I said back then, and I still say it today, the only way to deal with these beligerent bullies is to smack them in the mouth harder than they smacked us..

If we lose the House (unlikely but hey, you never know) they will work flat-out to impeach Obama, and at the very least try and make him un-electable in 2012...

UNLESS...we grow spines and start to hit back..

9. Not even any exposure of what they actually did do.
While we're going to be tarred with insinuation and innuendo for years.

2. I remember the right saying if Dems got control of the congress there would be nothing but
investigations into the Bush administration. We didn't do it but the right would no doubt.

I think Michele is on her way out anyway.

20. Even if she squeaks through
this year, her district will be gone after the redrawing. Minnesota is loosing a district. So since we will have a Democrat for governor and/or a Democratic congress her district is going to be combined with a Democrat who is a strong runner and has been in for 24 or so years. He pulls double digit against his republican opponents.

21. Don't count Bachmann out.
I live in this district and that baracuda knows her constituents and knows how to push their buttons.

And she is still out fundraising Taryl Clark by a wide margin. Please donate if you can.

Does anybody actually pay attention to these hearings anymore?
And in any event, all the White House has to do is cite precedents from the Bush Administration declaring everything executive privilege and run out the clock from there.

Government is the enemy. They're interested in destruction, the more the better.

12. While we on the left bicker ... the GOP plans total destruction ....
we simply can not let them have power ... the consequences are far worse than any "compromise" that we on the left fight about.

Bachmann is what we should energize us ...

23. Dude, the first thing the Left wanted was THIS!
We were the one's agitating for prosecution, remember? The CENTRISTS were the ones saying, "Oh, no, we need to preserve the spirit of bipartisanship!" And see what that got us? Not a goddam thing.

26. I know that the right will scream for prosecutions over nothing ...
But the reality is that any attempt to remove a sitting President becomes a partisan event.

And ... when a party tries it, the reason they do it is not to simply remove the Prez, but to STOP all government action.

Now ... if the Dems spent the first 2 years chasing Bush ... there would be no time to govern in any way ... unemployment would be 20%, there would have been no stimulus, no HCR, no financial reform ... NOTHING.

The GOP, already setting records for filabusters would be even worse, hard to believe, but its true.

The goal of the GOP is to shut down the government ... they do it when in power, and when OUT of power. The "prosecutions" you demand would have given them an even grater ability to shut things down.

planning and execution of their plans for the 21st century, and the US will be back on the playgrounds and playpens fighting among ourselves.

16. Its funny, its
exactly what we should have done after Obama was elected. There should have been a no holds barred investigation of the Bush Administration, and people like Bush, Cheney, Rove and others brought to trial for many charges.

Imagine if the Republican Tea partyists get power... There may end up being blood in the streets with what they will do.

22. This should be our rallying cry
In 2011...

If the Democrats win they'll fix xxx.
If the Republicans win they'll do nothing but investigate the president.

If the Democrats win they'll do xxx.
If the Republicans win they'll do nothing but investigate the president.

If the Democrats win they'll stop xxx from destroying America.
If the Republicans win they'll do nothing but investigate the president.
