We had dinner with the daughter's future in-laws Saturday. They are
dyed in the wool Republicans. My mother commented bitterly on the seven soldiers killed Saturday and on the ones taken prisoner. I almost fell off my chair when the future in-laws heartedly agreed and said they'd had enough of Bush and his war! At this point, they think all politicians are in it for the rich man. I don't think they're ready to support a Democratic candidate yet because they are so disillusioned with the system, but I doubt they'd vote for another Republican soon.

1. They will vote for another republicon come November 2008
Dyed in the wool repbulcon's can't ever bing themselves to vote what is in their best interest. Many of them vote what daddy voted and their kids vote what they vote. They can't get past that mentality that they have been taught that libruls are bad.

9. I think that used to be true, but my husband and I are exceptions.
Both raised republican. Also had cocktails with two former republicans Saturday (a retired colonel in the marines and his wife) who are now very active in the dem party. I think that people who make it a point to be informed are less likely to follow the sheep trails.

10. It is only those who feel the need to be informed that have a chance
They are the only ones who would change.
The rest all are too lazy or too brainwashed to see the real republicon.

2. We know a bunch of Repubs too.
They are frustrated but can't seem to admit to the abject failure of their party.

The latest rationalization I heard is that it's the fault of the extremes in both parties. OoooK :eyes: And an example of the extreme is....ahem....Ted Kennedy. Of course, she wouldn't name any one that is extreme on the right.

You must understand that this was from someone that has all of Ann Coulter's books so...

4. The disillusioned repubs I know that
were disillusioned before the 04 vote just didn't vote for president (left it blank or wrote in Micky Mouse type of thing) except for the vets, they did vote for Kerry. I live in a red county and more and more of the disillusioned repubs are saying they won't bother voting if things don't change. So no they can't bring themselves to vote Dem yet but hell I'll take them staying home over another repub destroying the country.

5. Someday . . .
even the most stubborn Bushbot is going to have to face reality. I wonder what it will take for some of them, though. :banghead:

6. That's fine, they don't have to vote.
I wouldn't try and convince them otherwise.

7. Hmmmm. Methinks Rove's Voter Suppression Efforts Are Working...
on the Republican side anyway. Most of the Dems and independents I know are going to vote for any Democratic candidate with a pulse and, for a few of us, a pulse isn't even necessary.

8. Funny how disillusioned Republicans say "they're all the same". Such "sameness", though, never led
them to vote Democratic.
