How was Lionel? (Sam Seder's replacement on AAR)
I did not listen to his debut program today. For those who did, your thoughts?

I loved Sam and still don't get why AAR showed him the door.

2. AAR moved Sam for one reason. He didn't have enough of an audience.
Most of the affiliates didn't carry his show because they found they could get a larger audience with either local programming or other morning shows. Lionel already has a large audience.

10. So hiring a rightwinger is a fix?
Hell, Limbaugh has a bigger audience than Lionel. Why not hire him, too?

13. ranting against "political correctness" is rightwing talk

as is calling rachel maddow a 'thick-necked lesbian"
as is calling women 'cows'
as is being a gun nut
as is saying you dislike liberals
as is being a gun nut
and so on and so forth
liberatrians like linionel are just republicans with a one or two issue difference. i have no problem with him having a show, just not on a progressive network that had a superior and reliably liberal host on in his place prior to his hire.

he wastes time on frivouls topics and can't discuss politics.

and why did he feel the need to start the show by insulting air america's talent and listeners?
bring back sam!

3. he was awful.
I had to shut down the stream because the beeping Opie and Anthony diatribes got annoying.

5. Why does Lionel imagine anyone cares about Opie and Anthony?
I heard a little bit of that myself, and thought--this is insider-radio crap. Pretty weak way to debut on a new network.

Maybe he just doesn't care; maybe he figures AAR needs him more than vice versa?

6. Atrios says Lionel was a Disaster
Disaster

Lionel was awful. Not just awful in the ways I expected - I hate the "independent thinker" schtick which suggests everyone else isn't - but truly awful radio period. Who the hell would want to listen to that?

7. Missed him on AAR, but...
he's been around for years and I've heard him on and off for a long time.

Never considered him all that seriously political, but more of a "character" like Brother Theodore. Entertainment with an attitude.

No idea why AAR hired him, but since my local AAR affiliate went to all-sports in order to make some money, I don't really care any more.

Didn't listen to it all that much before either, come to think of it. Only a couple of the shows were worthwhile.

8. Did not care for him
I caught the begining of the show and he went on forever about how he got into the business, boring. I missed the Opie and Andie section, Sam was much better.

9.  I gave up on AAR
When they fired Malloy , they had a great thing going all day long . I even changed my homepage from AAR to Nova M . I hear Randi and Hartmann and Malloy and others there .
