This was just stated, on CNN, as the reason he gave Gonzo, in his resignation letter. We're expected to believe that Justice doesn't pay its number two official enough to send his kids to school. Yeah, right. What horse shit.

service job like every other corrupt Republican and make some kickback profit, then what's in it for him, really?

Because, when did he figure out his salary wouldn't be enough? He just woke up one day and decided the cash flow wasn't there?

5. It's a popular excuse when the shit hits the fan.
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/30/ridge/index.html

Ridge, in the past, had declined to be specific when answering questions regarding his future. In July there were reports Ridge told colleagues he was considering stepping down after the election because of job stresses and the need to earn money in the private sector to pay his children's college costs.

These greedy vultures don't make enough???

7. That's a good enough excuse, EXCEPT the timing is very suspect!
I don't believe in coincidence. My guess is the McNulty knows how much sh*t is heading for the fan blades, and he's gettin out of Dodge before he gets spattered with any!

9. The McNulty Memo, and what does it do? = Tone Down Corporate Fraud Prosecutions

New DOJ Guidelines Tone Down Corporate Fraud Prosecutions
http://www.itbusinessedge.com/item/?ci=22930

Question: What is the McNulty Memo, and what does it do?

Cellini: On Dec. 12, 2006, Paul McNulty, the incumbent Deputy Attorney General, issued a revised memorandum to prosecutors outlining the factors they should consider when deciding to charge corporate entities with wrongdoing. This memorandum replaces the Thompson Memo and will inevitably come to be known as the McNulty Memo.

The McNulty Memo chooses sides in the war between the factor that rewards companies for establishing effective internal compliance programs and the factor that punishes companies for failing to voluntarily disclose adverse information turned up by those very same programs. Specifically, the McNulty Memo dramatically limits the circumstances under which it will require corporations to waive the attorney/client privilege. In other words, the Justice Department has made a choice and has come down on the side of encouraging companies to establish compliance programs (even at the expense of giving up its power to force companies to disclose unfavorable information uncovered by those programs).

"He has also been the principal driver of the Department’s policies and efforts to prevent corporate fraud and stop those who seek to defraud the taxpayers through fraudulent procurement practices...."

Resignation of Deputy Attorney General Paul J. Mcnulty

14. If he can't pay tuition
for his kids how are the rest of us supposed to do it? He must make over 100 grand for that kind of job, it needs to be examined just how normal middle class people can afford to educate their children. He opened a whole new can of worms with that reason.

17. The GOOP Equivelent Of The Soviet Cold
The timing is very curious...right as Goodling's immunity deal was settled and it appears she may sing. McNulty wants out of this trainwreck with whatever sanity he has left. This couldn't happen to a finer slimeball as I still see him as Shipper's hatchet man during the Clinton Inquisition.

McNulty must have felt like he was working at the North Pole since his original testimony opened the floodgates to this scandal. With the DOJ in total gridlcok, why not get out now while there's still some of the ship above the waterline. Rats always know the best time to jump.
